The Engine Trouble is a short story by R. K Narayan, a writer from Madras.
Engine Trouble is the story of a man who won a road engine in a fair/ exhibition lottery.
The exhibition got over and he was asked to remove it from the Municipality grounds.
Since he couldn't, he had to pay a rent of 10 rupees a month for keeping the road engine.
After three months, he decided to move the engine to a friend's field.
He hired an elephant and fifty coolies to push it there.
On the way it crashed into a compound wall of house and destroyed it.
In the end, he decided to sell it for scrap metal.
