Pronoun
A pronoun is used in place of a noun to avoid repetition.
Examples: I, you, he, she, it, they, who, which
Example: Priya is absent because she is ill.
Verb
A verb shows an action, occurrence, or state of being.
Examples: run, write, think, become, is, have
Adjective
An adjective describes or gives more information about a noun or pronoun.
Example: She is an intelligent student.
Adverb
An adverb modifies a verb, adjective, another adverb, or sometimes a whole sentence.
Example: He speaks clearly.
Preposition
A preposition shows the relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word, often indicating place, time, direction, or relationship.
Example: The book is on the table.
Conjunction
A conjunction connects words, phrases, or clauses.
Example: I wanted to go, but it was raining.
Article
An article comes before a noun and helps indicate whether we are talking about something specific or general.
Three articles:
A – used before a singular countable noun beginning with a consonant sound: a book, a university
An – used before a singular countable noun beginning with a vowel sound: an apple, an hour
The – used for a specific or already identified noun: the book on the table
Example:
an honest person
a university
